    Localization of Arabidopsis formate dehydrogenase 1. (a) and (b) Arabidopsis formate dehydrogenase 1 (FDH1) was C-terminally fused with mCherry. Transgenic Arabidopsis lines <t>expressing</t> <t>FDH1-mCherry</t> under the constitutive UBQ10 promoter were generated. Leaves (epidermal cell layer, (a) and roots (root cortex, (b) of 14-d-old seedlings were analyzed by confocal laser scanning microscopy. Red = FDH1-mCherry signal, Blue = MitoTracker Green FM as mitochondrial marker, in (a) Cyan = chlorophyll A autofluorescence. (c) FDH activity of FDH1-mCherry fusion. FDH1-mCherry was heterologously expressed in E. coli. The respective lysate was measured for FDH activity and compared to the empty vector control (EV). n = 3, Shown = mean ± SD, replicates shown as points.
